Taupō Halloween Film Festival

28 Oct 2018 (Sun)

Starlight Cinema, Horomatangi Street, Taupo, Lake Taupo

Celebrating the best the silver screen had to offer with films from many local and international film-makers. A night of fantastic thrills and chills for those who turn up and partake in the night's festivities.
Those with nerves of steel brave the haunted walk, entering through the dragons mouth and into the pit of the beast with scarers from Taupo's Actors Studio providing scares from every nook and cranny.

As participants make their way down the darkened aisles, freaks, ghouls, deranged surgeons, monsters and ghosts crept and lurked behind every corner to scare even the most adventurous.
Emerging more pale and shaken than when you enter, the photo booth awaits.

Then the lights to go down and it's time to enjoy the films. There was a splendid mix of horror, gore, comedy, suspense, drama and spine chilling spookiness. Something for all tastes.

Come dressed as your favourite horror icon and win spot prizes.

A fantastic night all around.

Tongariro North Domain, Tongariro Street, Taupo, Lake Taupo

From its humble beginnings in 1977 with just 26 participants, the BDO Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge has grown into NZ’s premier and largest cycling event, with around 6,000 riders from across New Zealand and over 20 countries across the globe taking part each year!
Held on the last Saturday of every November around the pristine and picturesque Lake Taupo, the event will this year celebrate its 42nd anniversary on Saturday 24 November 2018.

With a vision of creating inspiring event experiences for everyone, our purpose is to provide cyclists, as well as anyone interested in physical activity, the flexibility to choose a ride distance which best suits their cycling ability and aspiration, providing options to ride either as a team, a group, a family or as an individual.

Accompanying our already popular road and mountain-bike categories, is the 40km Quarter Lake on road event option (taking in the final 40km of the course), complementing the iconic 160km Round The Lake and the 80km Half The Lake category.

Part of the BDO Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge, the Huka Mountain Bike has four event categories, the 85km Huka Challenge, 60km Huka Steamer, 35km Huka Teaser and the Huka XL race for licensed riders.
