BANFF Mountain Film Festival

The Banff Mountain Film Festival is the largest, and one of the most prestigious, mountain festivals in the world. Hot on the heels of the festival held every autumn in Banff, Canada the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour hits the road.
From approximately 360 films entered into the annual festival, the world’s best mountain films are chosen to travel the globe.

The New Zealand Alpine Club is the proud NZ host of the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour, bringing the spirit of outdoor adventure to screenings around the country.

The NZ Tour is the Club’s largest fundraiser with all proceeds from the Tour going towards supporting the Club with a range of programmes like the upgrade of Club Section gear, such as helmets and crampons for use on NZAC beginner instruction courses, Club hut maintenance, volunteer development, supporting youth climbing and the installation of new boulder mats, plus much more.

Following the award winning success of the Dog Show exhibition in 2018, Taupo Museum purr’oudly presents CATalogue – A cat show for art lovers and an art show for cat lovers.
The cat themed artworks, sculptures and accessories are made from recycled/repurrposed materials.

The first event off the blocks in the 2019 Hoka One One Run Taupo series. Based at the Taupo Wake Board Park, this event will take you on a journey of unadulterated trail bliss.

WSP - Opus Drive in Movie: Willy Wonka & Bohemian Rhapsody

Treat yourself and your friends to two unforgettable movies of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (the original!) and Bohemian Rhapsody!

Children will love the perfect setting to watch this all-time classic. Bring a picnic dinner, some warm layers and enjoy this unique night out!

Stay on at the park to enjoy the awardwinning film about British rock band Queen and Freddie Mercury.

Tickets can be purchased for both movies or separately.
$25 per car for one session or book for both for $40 (tickets on sale 15th April).

Model railways, toys and hobbies, trade stands and free entertainment for the kids.
The Hobby Expo is run by the Taupo Model Railway Club. Each year we have model rail clubs from around the area bring their traveling layouts of all different styles and sizes.

We also have different groups and clubs from Taupo exhibiting as well, so it is not all about trains. See a full-size glider up close. An ideal day out for all adults and children included.
