International Racing Action Means Big Weekend of Motorsport In Taupo.
As the international Toyota Racing Series reaches its penultimate round, the race will be on for a special trophy that celebrates New Zealand's only Formula One World Champion - Denny Hulme.

His legacy is celebrated at this round of the international Toyota Racing Series every year when the F1 drivers of the future - all with one eye on the ultimate prize of an F1 drive and the F1 world title - duke it out to get their name on the Denny Hulme Trophy.

The TRS cars are the fastest to race every year on the Bruce McLaren Motorsport Park, and every year they pack the weekend with great action and racing. This time around it will be no different with the best of the best from junior single seater formulae all over the world in action trying to make a name for themselves.

Epic Swim

Swimming New Zealand welcomes you to join us in Taupo for the 10th Anniversary of the Epic Swim.
Take the opportunity to swim alongside some of New Zealand's best open water swimmers, enjoy the setting of Lake Taupo and get yourself some excellent practice on the same course as the New Zealand Ironman.

The Epic Swim is a recreational open water swimming event which is held each year on the idyllic setting of Lake Taupo, and is staged in conjunction with the New Zealand Open Water Championships.

There are races for all ages and ability levels. From 100m and 500m for children, 1km and 2.5km races for intermediate swimmers, to the 5km and 10km races for the more advanced.

For those who are up for more of a challenge, the Epic Epic race will test your mental and physical abilities. The Epic Epic is a 17km race combining the 5km, 2.5km, and 10km Epic races.

The 2019 Epic Swim will see for the first time the introduction of a 4 x 1km team relay. Get four of your mates together to finish off a great weekend competing for the Epic Team Relay title. Male, Female and Mixed team options in either the U16 or Open categories.

The 2.5km, 5km, 7.5km and 10km NZ Championships are also held over the weekend.

Taupo Summer Concert

Another sizzling hot summer of music will be hitting our shores in January with Greenstone Entertainment's artist line up for the annual Taupo Summer Concert on Saturday 26 January 2019.
Supertramp’s Roger Hodgson, legendary singer-songwriter, will perform all his Supertramp songs from the 70’s and 80’s, with a set list that we all know and love, including “Dreamer”, Give A Little Bit”, “It’s Raining Again”, “Breakfast in America”, “Take The Long Way Home”, “The Logical Song” and more.

James Reyne (Australian Crawl) and Mark Seymour (Hunters & Collectors), will be playing classics from Australian Crawl, Hunters & Collectors, and each of their solo works. As founding members and ex lead singers of Hunters & Collectors and Australian Crawl, Mark and James are teaming up for the first time in New Zealand to rock concert goers with some of their iconic hits from the 80’s and 90’s including “Holy Grail”, “Throw Your Arms Around Me”, “Reckless” and “Downhearted” to name just a few.

Completing the amazing international line up will be the unmistakable and powerful voice of Toni Childs, who again is sure to have everyone singing along to her Top 40 hits from the late 80’s early 90’s including “Don’t Walk Away”, Stop Your Fussin” and “I’ve Got To Go Now ”.

With its unique afternoon atmosphere, the amazing backdrop of the Waikato River and taking place right in the heart of Taupo, concert goers won’t be disappointed with next year’s 8th annual Taupo Summer Concert.

Across The Lake Swim

This iconic open water swimming event caters for a wide range of swimming abilities and is a fun, friendly swim. After the swim enjoy a well-deserved after event soup & bun, and enjoy the feeling of having achieved the Across the Lake Swim.
The Lake Taupo Across the Lake Swim starts at Acacia Bay and finishes across the lake 4.2km at Three Mile Bay. There is also a 2km, and a 1km event, both starting and finishing at Three Mile Bay.

The event provides those competing in the Ironman the opportunity to have a training run and is New Zealand's largest freshwater challenge.
