Sacred Waters Taupo takes its commitment to minimise the impact it has on the environment very seriously. We are exploring Energy Savings Opportunities at our complex and investigating ways we can run in a more energy efficient way. Our aim is to reduce our energy use by 3% every year for the foreseeable future.
We use Geothermal Energy for hot water.
We keep lighting in all public areas to a minimum overnight except emergency lighting.
We are in the process of replacing lamps in guest apartments with LED energy saving bulbs, which will reduce energy output from 40w to 4w per fixture.
Our lights in public and common areas are on motion sensors, so no power is wasted when there is no need for lights.
We use Geothermal underfloor heating.
To reduce the amount of water used, we are replacing any showerheads in need of renewal with slow flow shower heads. Smaller cistern capacities are also being utilised.
Our hot tubs and swimming pool are all geothermally heated.
We utilise a certified ‘re-injection bore’ for our used geothermal water, to ensure the longevity of the resource.
We carry out regular maintenance checks on all the buildings to ensure efficiency and safety standards are upheld.
We recycle paper, plastics and glass. We also work closely Enviro Waste who is a company specialising in environmental solutions and finding new ways to recycle waste.
Where possible we use local suppliers to reduce our carbon footprint.
Sacred Waters fully understands its responsibility to minimise its impact on the environment and is committed to this at all levels of the business.
